What is RaveGeo?
RaveGeo is a new technolgy for compressing and streaming
digital maps. RaveGeo dramatically reduces the costs and time associated with
storing, distributing, and using huge geographic vector databases.

Handling large digital maps is a burden...
Distributing geographic information is a difficult task.
Dense topographic maps, detailed road databases, and cadastral datasets are
often voluminous and therefore slow to access, especially over the Internet.
... made easy with RaveGeo.
RaveGeo compresses this information, making it available with
unparalleled performance, even over wireless networks or over the Internet.
RaveGeo is a new database technology for digital maps, the first
multi-resolution vector format. High compression and fast access make
RaveGeo ideal for everything from workstations to handheld devices.

Fast Access
RaveGeo provides fast and easy access to huge databases and
makes intense operations such as continuous, smooth, animated zooms and scrolls
possible. When using RaveGeo databases of any size or resolution can be zoomed
and panned in real-time over the Internet with almost no delay.

|
|
 |
High Compression
RaveGeo reduces the size of databases by 90-95% with preserved
topology and no loss of information. This means that substantially more
geographic data can be distributed on a CD or in the memory of a small device.
The high compression also makes network access extremely efficient.

Wide Scale Range
Navigation using any large source of information demands
details and overview. RaveGeo's multi-resolution capability makes
geographic data available in a much wider scale range. This makes it possible to
access any area, with any resolution, instantaneously. The multi-resolution also enables progressive
streaming of geodata over the networks.

From workstations...
RaveGeo's capacity for handling gigantic geodatabases has made
it the most exciting mapping technology for the next generation of Command
and Control (C2I) applications. RaveGeo will also take web map services to new
levels of performance.

...to small devices
The efficient unpacking algorithms and the small footprint of
the RaveGeo reader make it useful on for example GPS-navigators, chart
plotters, next generation mobile phones and handheld devices. The efficient data
compression is particularly useful for small devices where secondary
memory is often limited.

RaveGeo Technology
The RaveGeo software concept is aimed at map application developers
and geodata distributors. The RaveGeo Compiler
reads some of the most common geographic data formats and creates a
multi-resolution RaveGeo database. The data
producer controls the multi-resolution process by specifying the data
generalization parameters.
|
|
|
|
The application developer easily integrates RaveGeo with any
application, using the RaveGeo Map Client SDK
or the RaveGeo Data Reader SDK. The Reader component can access the data, either
directly through a local file system or over networks by connecting to a RaveGeo
Server.
