Saab’s GIS experts rates RaveGeo as epoch-making

Saab’s most distinguished GIS experts Dr. Lars Schylberg and Dr. Jan Larsson rates RaveGeo as epoch-making for map services in Network Centric Warfare (NCW). Below is excerpt from the article “Geospatial Services in NCW, Demands on Layout and Design”:

“Technologies for dynamic scaling and compression of geographic image information that lowers the demands for bandwidth and storage capacity are available. Corresponding products for vector data are also on their way [RaveGeo, translators remark]. These are epoch-making in the way we can reach geographic information through services and because they radically reduce the need for bandwidth when it comes to distribution of situation adapted geographic information.”  (translated from Swedish)

The article was presented at a speech at CIMI 2003 in Enköping, Sweden. The complete article: “Geospatiala tjänster_i_NBF, Krav på utformning och design” is available in Swedish (pdf).
